We were a group of students and researchers working on our theses. Like millions of others, we relied on tools like QuillBot to help refine our writing. But every time we hit that 125-word limit, our workflow broke. We spent more time copy-pasting small chunks of text than actually writing.
We realized that high-quality AI writing assistance had become a luxury item, locked behind expensive monthly subscriptions. We asked ourselves: Why should students pay $240 a year just to write better?
